Characteristics

Paeonia ‘Pink Parfait’ delivers exactly what its name suggests—a generous layering of soft pink petals that feel almost edible in texture, like a dessert whipped into floral form. These double blooms unfold with rhythm and density, their rounded shape held steady on medium-length stems. Side buds add volume and prolong the flowering window, turning a single flush into a slow, structured wave. Introduced in 1975, this Standard-category lactiflora has stood the test of time—not with spectacle, but with steady, time-earned grace.

Origin Pink Parfait Peony

‘Pink Parfait’ is rooted in a tradition of peony cultivation that prioritises reliability as much as beauty. Lactiflora peonies—long admired in East Asian horticulture—were selected for their strong perennial structure and their capacity for generous blooming. This cultivar carries that tradition forward with quiet authority: not flashy, but dependable, and ideal for those who prefer subtlety over flourish. Its multiple side buds and consistent growth make it especially suited to commercial growers seeking balance between yield and elegance.

LACTIFLORA

As a lactiflora variety, ‘Pink Parfait’ offers what growers need most—predictability, upright stems, and flowers that hold their shape and colour in both the field and vase. It blooms late in the season, filling the gap when early varieties fade. Its shape is tailored for bouquet building, while its strength ensures it holds in structure-heavy arrangements. Whether planted for production or display, this peony delivers clean, symmetrical performance.

How to plant

What follows are the steps for planting Pink Parfait peony roots:
Peonies flourish in locations with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil. Choose a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight every day and has organic-rich soil. Create a hole that is 30 cm (12 inches) broad and 10 cm (4 inches) deep. To boost soil fertility, loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole with a garden fork or spade and mix in some compost or well-rotted manure. Remove any stones or trash and break up any clumps. Insert the peony root into the hole so that the eyes (or growth buds) face up and are no more than 5 cm (2 inches) below the soil surface. Backfill the hole with dirt, gently firming it down to remove any air pockets. Thoroughly water the newly planted peony root to help settle the dirt around the roots. Soak the soil around the plant using a watering can or hose, being careful not to wash it away. Mulch the plant’s base with a 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inch) layer of organic mulch, such as shredded bark or straw.
