Characteristics

Paeonia ‘Majesty’s Star’ announces itself early in the season with a bloom that feels alive — semi-double, soft pink, and full of unruly charm. The petals twist and arch outward in layered motion, catching morning light like a bloom mid-dance. It’s a variety that doesn’t blend in: bold in form, refined in tone. Each stem bears a single flower — no side buds, no distractions — making it easy to cut, bunch and grade with speed. It brings movement to the field and character to every crate.

Origin MAJESTY’S STAR Peony

Released in 2014, ‘Majesty’s Star’ was selected not to fit a mould — but to offer something fresh. Where most early hybrids aim for restraint, this one delivers freedom: in shape, in energy, in presence. Its pink tone is warm without tipping into coral, and clear without fading. This makes it ideal as a feature bloom in spring lines, or as a contrast to more structured varieties. For growers who value difference and detail, ‘Majesty’s Star’ earns its name.

HYBRID

True to its hybrid nature, ‘Majesty’s Star’ produces one flower per stem with consistency. But unlike stiffer hybrids, the bloom carries a looseness that feels organic. No side shoots mean every cut is clean, and every bucket uniform in length. Yet no two flowers look exactly alike — the frill, the fold, the posture — they vary slightly, beautifully. In early weather, it opens without hesitation and moves well from field to cooler. It’s a grower’s variety with florist-ready personality.

How to plant

What follows are the steps for planting Majesty’s Star peony roots:
Peonies flourish in locations with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil. Choose a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight every day and has organic-rich soil. Create a hole that is 30 cm (12 inches) broad and 10 cm (4 inches) deep. To boost soil fertility, loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole with a garden fork or spade and mix in some compost or well-rotted manure. Remove any stones or trash and break up any clumps. Insert the peony root into the hole so that the eyes (or growth buds) face up and are no more than 5 cm (2 inches) below the soil surface. Backfill the hole with dirt, gently firming it down to remove any air pockets. Thoroughly water the newly planted peony root to help settle the dirt around the roots. Soak the soil around the plant using a watering can or hose, being careful not to wash it away. Mulch the plant’s base with a 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inch) layer of organic mulch, such as shredded bark or straw.
