Characteristics

Paeonia ‘Majesty’s Scepter’ stands upright in the mid-season field with semi-double blooms in soft, silken pink. The flower builds vertically, with gently cupped outer petals supporting a finely ruffled centre — giving the whole bloom a posture reminiscent of a ceremonial staff. With no side buds, each stem focuses its energy on one bloom, resulting in high stem quality and uniformity across the block. It’s a variety that cuts clean, processes smoothly, and adds structure and softness at once.

Origin MAJESTY’S SCEPTER Peony

Bred for balance and introduced in 2014, ‘Majesty’s Scepter’ was developed to bring refinement to the pink mid-season segment. The tone is understated: a soft pink that doesn’t overpower the row but reads clearly in mixed planting. Growers value it for its flowering rhythm and harvest predictability. Whether bunched fresh or pre-cooled for export, its shape and structure hold — making it a working hybrid with visual elegance. The name fits: upright, subtle, and carried with control.

HYBRID

As a hybrid, ‘Majesty’s Scepter’ flowers cleanly, without the distraction of side buds. The semi-double bloom opens evenly and maintains its shape in the field and cold chain. Its moderate volume prevents tip sag during cool, damp periods, and it shows good resistance to breakage during harvest. For growers managing week-by-week blocks or export windows, this hybrid is a dependable performer with enough presence to elevate a programme — but never complicate it.

How to plant

What follows are the steps for planting Majesty’s Scepter peony roots:
Peonies flourish in locations with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil. Choose a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight every day and has organic-rich soil. Create a hole that is 30 cm (12 inches) broad and 10 cm (4 inches) deep. To boost soil fertility, loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole with a garden fork or spade and mix in some compost or well-rotted manure. Remove any stones or trash and break up any clumps. Insert the peony root into the hole so that the eyes (or growth buds) face up and are no more than 5 cm (2 inches) below the soil surface. Backfill the hole with dirt, gently firming it down to remove any air pockets. Thoroughly water the newly planted peony root to help settle the dirt around the roots. Soak the soil around the plant using a watering can or hose, being careful not to wash it away. Mulch the plant’s base with a 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inch) layer of organic mulch, such as shredded bark or straw.
