Characteristics

Paeonia ‘Majesty’s Light’ opens the season with soft, double blooms in creamy white — a flower that appears almost luminous in early-morning light. The petals are gently rounded, with a lightly frilled centre that adds volume without weight. No side buds means one bloom per stem, delivering focused growth and visual consistency across plots. At a glance, this variety stands out for its calm rhythm and clean lines — particularly striking when observed in uniform blocks during the first cuts of spring.

Origin MAJESTY’S LIGHT Peony

Released in 2017, ‘Majesty’s Light’ was developed for growers seeking both elegance and technical reliability. Its creamy-white tone — warmer than pure white but still refined — was selected to contrast gently with cool foliage and deeper-toned neighbours. It performs best in structured systems, opening early and holding form under pressure. Its name suits its performance: quietly present, light in tone, and strong in delivery.

HYBRID

As a hybrid, ‘Majesty’s Light’ focuses all its energy into the central bloom — no side buds, no uneven branching. Its double form is dense enough for premium presentation but not so heavy that it risks collapsing under dew or rain. It dries quickly in spring conditions, travels well, and maintains bloom definition through cold storage. For growers managing tight early harvests, it’s a disciplined performer with a visually soft result.

How to plant

What follows are the steps for planting Majesty’s Light peony roots:
Peonies flourish in locations with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil. Choose a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight every day and has organic-rich soil. Create a hole that is 30 cm (12 inches) broad and 10 cm (4 inches) deep. To boost soil fertility, loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole with a garden fork or spade and mix in some compost or well-rotted manure. Remove any stones or trash and break up any clumps. Insert the peony root into the hole so that the eyes (or growth buds) face up and are no more than 5 cm (2 inches) below the soil surface. Backfill the hole with dirt, gently firming it down to remove any air pockets. Thoroughly water the newly planted peony root to help settle the dirt around the roots. Soak the soil around the plant using a watering can or hose, being careful not to wash it away. Mulch the plant’s base with a 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inch) layer of organic mulch, such as shredded bark or straw.
