Characteristics

Paeonia ‘Majesty’s Imperial’ brings early-season clarity to the field with double blooms in soft white, tinged with a subtle ivory warmth that reads cool and clean in spring light. The dome-shaped flower opens in uniform layers, with a dense, ruffled heart that holds shape even after harvest. Each stem produces a single bloom — no side buds, no variation — making it a favourite among growers focused on early uniformity. The stems are strong but not coarse, and the bloom retains its volume well in cold storage, holding definition from field to shipment.

Origin MAJESTY’S IMPERIAL Peony

Introduced in 2017, ‘Majesty’s Imperial’ is part of a focused line of hybrids bred for premium output with minimal input. Its colour sits just off-white — refined, not stark — allowing it to contrast beautifully with both pastels and deeper tones in planned field layouts. It was developed to meet the modern grower’s needs: early flowering, fast handling, and high stem productivity across uniform blocks. Its name suits its presence — structured, elegant, and always in step with production.

HYBRID

As a hybrid, ‘Majesty’s Imperial’ delivers concentrated energy into one flower per stem. No side buds means reduced thinning and more predictable harvests. Its double form is compact enough to resist sagging under damp spring conditions, and it opens in cool weather without losing rhythm. This makes it ideal for growers working with early export timelines or tight cut-and-cool schedules. It’s the variety that performs — and keeps performing.

How to plant

What follows are the steps for planting Majesty’s Imperial peony roots:
Peonies flourish in locations with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil. Choose a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight every day and has organic-rich soil. Create a hole that is 30 cm (12 inches) broad and 10 cm (4 inches) deep. To boost soil fertility, loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole with a garden fork or spade and mix in some compost or well-rotted manure. Remove any stones or trash and break up any clumps. Insert the peony root into the hole so that the eyes (or growth buds) face up and are no more than 5 cm (2 inches) below the soil surface. Backfill the hole with dirt, gently firming it down to remove any air pockets. Thoroughly water the newly planted peony root to help settle the dirt around the roots. Soak the soil around the plant using a watering can or hose, being careful not to wash it away. Mulch the plant’s base with a 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inch) layer of organic mulch, such as shredded bark or straw.
