Characteristics

Paeonia ‘Majesty’s Cup’ opens early with soft yellow, single-form blooms that offer clarity and control from the first cut of the season. The petals curve outward in a neat, cup-like formation, giving the bloom a composed silhouette that stays upright even in cool spring winds. With no side buds and high productivity, this hybrid focuses all its energy on producing one clean, symmetrical flower per stem. In field rows, it creates a consistent rhythm — soft yellow heads spaced evenly, with minimal variation between plants.

Origin MAJESTY’S CUP Peony

Introduced in 2017, ‘Majesty’s Cup’ was bred for growers who value structure over spectacle. Its single flower form was chosen for efficiency, and its pale yellow tone adds distinction without overwhelming neighbouring varieties. The hybrid build ensures fast emergence and early bloom timing, while maintaining colour stability and form integrity under variable spring conditions. Its name suits its stance: elevated, compact, and quietly regal.

HYBRID

As a hybrid, ‘Majesty’s Cup’ offers direct, reliable flowering without the unpredictability of side buds. Each stem produces a single, market-ready bloom with minimal input — ideal for growers managing early schedules or cool-climate rotations. The single flower type dries quickly after rain, opens evenly, and holds well in both field and vase. Its light colour makes it a transitional tool for early yellow schemes or soft spring palettes.

How to plant

What follows are the steps for planting Majesty’s Cup peony roots:
Peonies flourish in locations with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil. Choose a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight every day and has organic-rich soil. Create a hole that is 30 cm (12 inches) broad and 10 cm (4 inches) deep. To boost soil fertility, loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole with a garden fork or spade and mix in some compost or well-rotted manure. Remove any stones or trash and break up any clumps. Insert the peony root into the hole so that the eyes (or growth buds) face up and are no more than 5 cm (2 inches) below the soil surface. Backfill the hole with dirt, gently firming it down to remove any air pockets. Thoroughly water the newly planted peony root to help settle the dirt around the roots. Soak the soil around the plant using a watering can or hose, being careful not to wash it away. Mulch the plant’s base with a 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inch) layer of organic mulch, such as shredded bark or straw.
