Characteristics

Paeonia ‘Majesty’s Bonnet’ announces itself early in the season with deeply saturated pink blooms that hold their tone, even beside paler varieties in the same row. The double flower is densely built — petals layered like tightly folded fabric — giving the bloom a commanding but refined form. With high productivity and no side buds, each stem carries one central bloom, clean and consistent. It stands at a normal height, offering ease in harvesting and uniformity across planting blocks.

Origin MAJESTY’S BONNET Peony

Bred in 2017, ‘Majesty’s Bonnet’ reflects the values of modern hybridisation: focus, timing, and structure. It was developed to deliver early-season impact — not with sheer size, but with colour clarity and flowering precision. Its name is no accident: the bloom’s shape resembles a formal bonnet — rounded, composed, and upright. This is a variety that adds presence to a field from the first week of cuts.

HYBRID

Hybrids like ‘Majesty’s Bonnet’ are designed to deliver maximum output with minimum complexity. No side buds means every stem is harvest-ready without extra thinning. The double form holds together well in cool, early-spring conditions and doesn’t collapse with temperature shifts. This makes it a valuable tool for growers who need to start the season strong and stay ahead of weather variability.

How to plant

What follows are the steps for planting Majesty’s Bonnet peony roots:
Peonies flourish in locations with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil. Choose a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight every day and has organic-rich soil. Create a hole that is 30 cm (12 inches) broad and 10 cm (4 inches) deep. To boost soil fertility, loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole with a garden fork or spade and mix in some compost or well-rotted manure. Remove any stones or trash and break up any clumps. Insert the peony root into the hole so that the eyes (or growth buds) face up and are no more than 5 cm (2 inches) below the soil surface. Backfill the hole with dirt, gently firming it down to remove any air pockets. Thoroughly water the newly planted peony root to help settle the dirt around the roots. Soak the soil around the plant using a watering can or hose, being careful not to wash it away. Mulch the plant’s base with a 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inch) layer of organic mulch, such as shredded bark or straw.
