Characteristics

Paeonia ‘JOYFUL ANNOINTING’ is an early-season hybrid with a disciplined, white-flowered presence. Each bloom is fully double and precisely formed—no side buds, no distraction. What remains is a pure, high-performance flower on each upright stem. Its growth habit is firm and balanced, holding its posture neatly both in cutting fields and in visual displays. With high productivity and a moderate stem length, ‘JOYFUL ANNOINTING’ is not only premium in classification but also predictably profitable in yield—favoured by growers seeking efficiency without compromising visual value.

Origin JOYFUL ANNOINTING Peony

Brought to market in 2019, ‘JOYFUL ANNOINTING’ reflects a new generation of peony breeding—one that values early flowering, structural clarity, and commercial scalability. It combines clean plant architecture with an ornamental purity that holds its own in both large-scale production and refined garden settings. This variety adapts seamlessly to bulk harvesting demands while maintaining the grace expected from a premium peony cultivar.

HYBRID

As a hybrid, ‘JOYFUL ANNOINTING’ embodies the deliberate fusion of diverse peony lines—combining the genetic strength of its ancestors with modern breeding goals. Hybrid peonies are sought after for their consistency, durability, and efficient bloom cycles. This makes them ideal for both professional growers and landscape designers prioritising predictable timing and dependable flowering. ‘JOYFUL ANNOINTING’ aligns seamlessly with these criteria: structurally stable, early to perform, and primed for reliable output season after season.

How to plant

What follows are the steps for planting Joyful Annointing peony roots:
Peonies flourish in locations with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil. Choose a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight every day and has organic-rich soil. Create a hole that is 30 cm (12 inches) broad and 10 cm (4 inches) deep. To boost soil fertility, loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole with a garden fork or spade and mix in some compost or well-rotted manure. Remove any stones or trash and break up any clumps. Insert the peony root into the hole so that the eyes (or growth buds) face up and are no more than 5 cm (2 inches) below the soil surface. Backfill the hole with dirt, gently firming it down to remove any air pockets. Thoroughly water the newly planted peony root to help settle the dirt around the roots. Soak the soil around the plant using a watering can or hose, being careful not to wash it away. Mulch the plant’s base with a 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inch) layer of organic mulch, such as shredded bark or straw.
