Characteristics

Paeonia ‘Jacorma Light’ is the refined echo of its bold predecessor—less assertive in colour, yet no less compelling in stature. This late-season lactiflora stands tall at around 80 cm, crowned with full, double blooms in a cool, delicate pink that resists fading even under summer sun. Its shape: bowl-formed and classically layered. Its fragrance: softly sweet but persistent. Built on strong, upright stems with foliage that holds its own against leaf spot and mildew, ‘Jacorma Light’ is a consistent performer for both the florist’s bench and the open field.

Origin Jacorma Light Peony

Bred as a sport from the original ‘Jacorma’, this selection is grounded in the enduring legacy of Paeonia lactiflora—one of the most cultivated peony species in horticulture. With roots deep in East Asia and centuries of cultivation behind it, the lactiflora group has long set the standard for fragrance, durability, and cut flower excellence. ‘Jacorma Light’ carries forward that legacy with its soft-hued refinement and high-yielding habit, ideally suited for late-season commercial harvests and landscape repetition alike.

LACTIFLORA

Within the lactiflora group, ‘Jacorma Light’ earns its place through resilience and poise. It offers strong stem quality for mechanised cutting, an elegant presentation for retail, and consistency in the field that appeals to growers working on scale. Whether you are producing en masse for floristry or looking to extend your bloom window into the later weeks of the season, this cultivar performs with quiet confidence.

How to plant

What follows are the steps for planting Jacorma Light peony roots:
Peonies flourish in locations with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil. Choose a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight every day and has organic-rich soil. Create a hole that is 30 cm (12 inches) broad and 10 cm (4 inches) deep. To boost soil fertility, loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole with a garden fork or spade and mix in some compost or well-rotted manure. Remove any stones or trash and break up any clumps. Insert the peony root into the hole so that the eyes (or growth buds) face up and are no more than 5 cm (2 inches) below the soil surface. Backfill the hole with dirt, gently firming it down to remove any air pockets. Thoroughly water the newly planted peony root to help settle the dirt around the roots. Soak the soil around the plant using a watering can or hose, being careful not to wash it away. Mulch the plant’s base with a 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inch) layer of organic mulch, such as shredded bark or straw.
